Last Saturday, Dani Alves was presented as the new player of Pumas UNAM. The 39-year-old Brazilian arrived at the Mexican club's facilities, signed his contract and had his first training session with the squad.
The full-back expressed his feelings about this new step in his career and gave his opinion on his recent departure from Barcelona, where he was unable to renew his contract due to a decision by the coaching staff and the board. However, he was happy about the possibility of playing in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Camp Nou on 7th August.
"In the end life treats well the people who treat life well, it gives me the right to come and play with Pumas and play at the Camp Nou to say goodbye to the fans. They took me out through the back door the penultimate time, this time it wasn't through the back door because my contract was finished... What's going on? Nothing, ciao," began Dani Alves, speaking to 'TUDN'.
And in the same vein, he added: "I didn't expect much more, after all I signed for six months and I did it. They could have told me earlier, because in the last game against Villarreal I would have been able to say goodbye to the fans.
"That's why life gives me this gift, that it's Pumas who will play at the Camp Nou and I'll have the opportunity to say goodbye to the people as I would have liked," said the Brazil international, reflecting on his departure from Barça.
Finally, Alves gave his word to Pumas: "I understand that people always talk about my age, but they don't know me, my desire and my soul are young, and my discipline is great. I'm not coming here to reach the World Cup, I'm coming here to win titles.
