Former Real Madrid and now Juventus player Cristiano Ronaldo has made a hotel on the Gran Via in Madrid. It is called Pestana CR7 Gran Via Madrid and it will open its doors on Monday 7th June. That is when coronavirus restrictions in Madrid will be relaxed in a bid to help boost tourism and the hotel sector.
The Pestana CR7 Gran Via Madrid is part of the Pestana CR7 brand, a relationship between Pestana Hotel Group (the biggest hotel company in Portugal) and Cristiano Ronaldo. He already has hotels in Madeira and Lisbon and will soon also have in New York and Marrakech.
Located on Gran Via 29 in Madrid, it will be the first hotel under the Pestana CR7 Lifestyle Hotels branding to be opened outside of Portugal. After successful openings in Lisbon and Madeira, they are now opening in the Spanish capital. There is already a Pestana hotel in Madrid in the Plaza Mayor.
The new hotel will occupy a building which dates back to 1923 and, after 13 million euros worth of investment, it will have 168 rooms across 10 floors. Two of them will be dedicated to a bar-terrace and solarium with a swimming pool, the company said in a statement.
In addition, Planta 9 CR7, which will be open to the public, will be where you can try all of the hotel's food. You can have a pizza made by chef Mauro Soggiu, a sports bar where you can play table football or watch a match and you will also be able to go onto the roof and take a look at the city of Madrid.
