Colombia cannot replace Muriel with another player

Muriel went off injured in the 13th minute of the match between Colombia and Argentina at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador after receiving a challenge from Leandro Paredes. Tests have revealed that he has suffered a grade II injury to his MCL in his left knee."

"It is expected that he will be out for between five and seven weeks to be able to play again so he will not participate in the rest of the tournament," adds the statement from the Colombian Federation. 

The Colombia coach Carlos Queiroz will not be able to replace the Sevilla striker because according to the competition rules, changes can only be made to the 23 man squad due to injury up to 24 hours before the first game.

Against Argentina, the midfielder Wilmar Barrios also got injured, who presented a knee injury which was nothing major,

"The midfielder has started his recovery and will be able in a few days," the Colombian Federation reports.
