Summer 2021 could be a busy one for Barcelona, especially in the department of departures. The club have already put a number of players on their transfer list in an attempt to try and alleviate some their economic problems.
Amongst the players that could be on their way out, Sergi Roberto could one of the most important. His age and consistent performances would make for a great signing for any number of sides.
One of these could well be Manchester City, who are reportedly interested in securing the services of the versatile midfielder. The Spaniard is held in high regard by compatriot Pep Guardiola, forcing a transfer which could be carried out as part of a swap deal.
According to reports from 'TyC Sports', the Barca man could set sail for the Etihad with City's Aymeric Laporte going in the other direction. The CB has found himself relegated to the bench following the arrival of Ruben Dias and the improvement in John Stones' form.
For their part, Barca are looking for another central defender to go alongside the done deal of Eric Garcia. The ex-Athletic man, in the terms of this reported deal, would certainly be a welcome addition to the Catalan side.
At 27-years-old, Laporte is still a player of the highest calibre. He has been called up to the Spain squad for the European Championships, and during his time at City the CB has made a total of 111 appearances. That being said, he has been limited to just 27 matches this season.
