The former Barcelona player Dmitriy Chygrinskiy will continue his career in Greece. During lockdown in Europe, there was speculation that he would leave AEK Athens because of his large salary, his inconsistent performances and injuries.
However, the team from the Greek capital announced that they will continue to count on the Ukrainian central defender for another season.
The central defender, who Barcelona spent 30 million euros on when few had heard of him, shone in the competition post-restart and was a key man for AEK Athens. He even scored two goals after the coronavirus stoppage thanks to his good aerial play.
Chygrynskiy will continue in the Greek League, where he has been since 2016 and he will turn 34 at an AEK side who will once again fight for the league title next term.
