The Italian outfit had been accused of deliberately modifying and inflating the figures from transfer dealings with Cesena.
However, the Italian Football Federation ruled on Wenesday that the case is "inadmissable" due to invesigators' failure to interview Chievo president Luca Campedelli before opening proceedings.
Campadelli made a request to be spoken to, but was never called, something which has proved to be a costly error form investigators.
Had they been found guilty, Chievo, who finished five points clear of 18-placed Crotone, could have faced a points deduction, with Crotone insisting they will pursue the matter through to its conclusion.
An appeal is likley, but it is incredibly improbable that any appeal would be heard before the start of the new campaign.
Cesena were deducted 15 points for their part in the scandal, but they have gone bankrupt and look unlikely to compete in any division next season.
