The works at the Santiago Bernabéu are progressing well, and so is the health situation due to the pandemic. It was even speculated that for the second round of the Champions League there might be people in the stadiums, but if so, the 'merengues' will have to go to Di Stéfano to see Madrid.
It was a possibility, above all after it was confirmed that the whites will play the return leg at home. But 'AS' says that Real Madrid are not planning to shorten the time frame for their return to the Bernabeu.
There are still three months to go until the match, but the 'merengue' club has already announced it: the second leg will be played in Valdebebas. Because even if it were possible, even if all the conditions were met, as long as the CSD does not give the green light to the return of the fans there is no point in returning to their stadium.
UEFA allows reduced entry to Champions League matches, as long as it is in line with each country's rules for containing the pandemic. In Spain there is no such minimum at the moment.
And so, although the Bernabeu continues to have an impeccable pitch despite the works and seems ready to host a match at any moment, it will not do so until at least the month of March. Real Madrid is in no hurry to return home.
