Ilkay Gundogan is one of Pep Guardiola's key members of his squad. The German sat down with 'Sport 1' to analyse the upcoming Champions League tie with Real Madrid.
"It's a huge tie. A team that has knocked out PSG and Chelsea is going to be a tough nut to crack. Madrid are a brutal team and they have many players who have always performed consistently", he said.
The centre-midfielder recalled the quarter finals and commented that he hopes for "a much more offensive match than the one against Atletico".
He also had a few words on Benzema, the one who he said, along with Lewandowski, is "the best striker in the world" and that he has been undervalued.
"I think that he was undervalued a lot in the past and now he is responding to his critics. He spent a lot of time in Cristiano's shadow, most of all in the media, but now he's receiving the attention he deserves", he continued.
On City, Gundogan expressed that they "are a top team, strong and versatile, both individually and collectively" and that they always believe in being "together", at a "sporting and individual" level.
