For Benzema, the opportunity is open to extend his streak and come closer to the record, as there are new clubs in the league that he has not previously scored against. Unfortunately for him, two of his favourite victims are currently in the Segunda. He has scored 10 against Granada, and eight each against Malaga and Athletic Bilbao.
What is clear is that he has rediscovered his goalscoring touch, after struggling last season. Whether it was due to Ronaldo playing more centrally, or a lack of confidence, the last few seasons have not seen the best from Benzema.

He nows leads the Spanish league in scoring, with four goals in three games, which is a huge improvement on last season. In the previous campaign he had to wait until his 25th game to bag his fourth goal.
Furthermore, he is forming a perfect partnership with Gareth Bale. Between the two of them they have contributed 70% of Real Madrid's goals this season - two huge pieces of Julen Lopetegui's plans.
