Barcelona take all three points against Celta

Barcelona move into first place in La Liga after a well earned victory at home to Celta. Pedri's first half goal proved sufficient to see off Celta Vigo.
After a dominant first half, Pedri grabbed an early tap in to put the home side 1-0 to the good, after a well worked move down the left wing was crossed in.The Celta Vigo defender was unable to deal with it properly and Pedri gobbled up the scraps. This ended up proving enough for a first 45 largely dominated by Barcelona. Celta did pose a few threats, but did not challenge the Barcelona defence enough to offer a realistic threat. The home side continued their dominant attacks including when Raphinha had a penalty shout waved away, which proved to be the right call.
Barcelona started the second half as they meant to go on, with a few half chances peppering the Marchesin goal. As the second half progressed, the visiting side found their feet and managed to put together a few promising attacks. Most notably was when Iago Aspas found himself in front of Ter Stegen but was unable to find a way round, due to the keeper's sprawling legs. Celta even had a goal disallowed in the 70th minute when the Celta player was found to be offside during the build-up play.
The more the game progressed, the more Celta found their urgency, resulting in constant possession and pressurising of the Barcelona box. Their pressure peaked when, in the 90+6th minute, they hit the post after a well threaded through ball down the left hand side was crossed in. However, once again, there was a Celta player adjudged to be offside during the build-up.
Due to this result, Barcelona climb up to first, leaving Celta Vigo stuck in 11th position. Next up for Barca is Inter on Tuesday in the Champions League, whereas Celta have a week's break before taking on Real Sociedad.
