Real Madrid's 2-1 win over Barcelona at Camp Nou left clear to everyone that Barça needs a striker. In less than two years, Barcelona has lost Leo Messi, Grieamann and Luis Suarez. As of now, Luuk De Jong, Memphis Depay or Sergio Aguero have not been enough to compensate the goals of the former attacking trio.
The former Barcelona player, Albert Ferrer talked to 'The Mirror' about Barcelona's need for new firepower. "Of course Barcelona can challenge for titles, but they need a striker. Most of the big clubs have a striker that scores 20 goals per season. Memphis is not a traditional number '9'", he claimed.
"Barcelona lost in the past two years Suarez and Griezmann, that's 50 goals per season. They need a 'top striker' to replace them", said the former player.
Ferrer also surprised when he claimed that Haaland and Mbappe are not what Barcelona should be looking for: "I am not saying those two wouldn't fit in Barça's team, but the board needs to think about what type of striker they really need. The team always has around 70% of the ball possession and plays against teams that defend at the back and don't generate spaces for those two. It's something to take into account. Haaland or Mbappe would not be comfortable".
