Inter produced a late comeback in Rome to see of Lazio and secure the final Champions League qualifying place in Serie A. It looked an impossible task with a few weeks of the season to go, but Luciano Spalletti's side did the impossible to return to Europe's premier club competition on the final gameweek of the season.
The win produced scenes of jubilation among the Inter faithful, as well as among the Barca board of directors, with the club now set for a significant windfall.
According to the aforementioned source, Inter are now obligated to sign the Brazilian midfielder for the fee agreed when the 'Nerazzurri' signed him on loan in January.
The move is a masterstroke from Barca, who will secure a significant fee for a player for whom they have no real space in their squad. Since moving to Italy, Rafinha has made himself an important member of the squad, making 17 appearances in Serie A and clocking up two goals and three assists.
Whilst a deal looks certain, Inter remain hopeful of negotiating a slightly smaller fee with Barca and have until June 30 to do so, though the Catalan side certainly hold all the cards.
With that in mind, it looks as though the playmaker will be saying goodbye to the Camp Nou and continuing his career at Inter.
