Athletic Bilbao's triumph in the Spanish Super Cup final filled a Javier Clemente with joy who showed his love for the club of his dreams.
He spoke on 'Radio Marca' about the match against Barcelona and criticised the style of touch that has been tried to impose everywhere. "The match did not surprise me. It's what Athletic would have to do every Sunday and that's more complicated", he explained.
"Training in Lezama since you are a child is special and it was seen after the match. For 12 years, Athletic has played with the wrong style, like Barca, Inter... We stopped using our strength".
The ex-manager recalled his spell in charge of Spain and compared it to the time of Luis Aragones: "I left the national team and many people said that I hoofed the ball up the park. With Luis Aragonés' game they said that Spain already had its style. But that has been these years, because they had the right players. You have to have a style that you can win with. You have to do what you can".
He extrapolated these words to the current Barca: "Barca have good players, but if they just pass the ball it's no use. Except for Jordi Alba's move, they almost didn't do anything because that way of playing... well, no. They are good players, yes, if they do more".
