Bad news for Barcelona. The Catalans confirmed the double fracture in Ronald Araujo, who got injured in the Copa del Rey against Linares and he will miss the Super Cup semi-final with Real Madrid. He will also miss at least all of the games Barcelona have in January.
"The first team player Ronald Araujo has a fracture in the second and third metacarpal in his right hand. The player will have surgery on Friday thanks to doctor Xavier Mir under the supervision of the club's medical services. A new statement will be issued after the operation, Barca's brief statement on the Uruguayan read.
At the same time, the Catalans confirmed that Frenkie de Jong has strained his soleus muscle and that was the reason he was taken off in the second half despite coming on at half-time.
The Dutchman will find it very difficult to play in Barcelona's next few matches although his injury is much less serious than that of Araujo and he could reappear earlier if his recovery goes well.
