Sergio Busquets will leave Barcelona at the end of the season and the board are already looking for his replacement. As a result, they are considering several contenders. Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich is the main target to bolster their midfield.
The German has been linked with the Catalan giants in recent weeks but has not yet said anything about his future. Nevertheless, Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez confirmed at a press conference that they will 'start talks' to try to sign him.
"He is a super top player, who understands the game in a fantastic way. If there is an open door, there will be a negotiation with Bayern," he told reporters.
"What is clear is that we need a player of a very high level in that position, otherwise, it will be very difficult to compete next year. The club already knows that if I have to call someone or travel, I do it because, to begin with, I'm a 'cule' and now I'm the Barcelona coach."
