With Bale's future more up in the air than ever, Rafael Van der Vaart compared the Bale of the Premier League to the Bale of La Liga. Two very different players, it seems.
"It's strange, but in Holland we usually say that you must be a true son of a b**ch. Bale cost 100 million euros, they paid a lot of money for him and he has to live up to that."
The Dutchman recalled that Bale, "in his last year at Tottenham", was a true leader in every sense of the word.
"He took every free-kick, he dcided it all. This is what he has to do at Madrid. I am aware that it is difficult because there are a lot of good players there, but he must do it more.
Next summer could be Bale's last in Madrid, given that Real are now ready to listen to any offers for him. Tottenham could open their doors to him, but Van der Vaart doesn't think he will return: "I don't think that's going to happen, but it would be a great story".
