Asensio emotional farewell to Madrid: "I am addressing you with a lump in my throat".

What was an open secret has been confirmed: Marco Asensio will leave Real Madrid. The Balearic attacker will play his last home game at the Santiago Bernabeu on Sunday against Athletic Club and the club wanted to show their gratitude to the Spanish international.

For his part, the player himself recorded a farewell video in which he reviewed his best moments at Real Madrid and said goodbye to the club, his teammates and the fans: "Dear madridistas, I address you with a lump in my throat and a heart full of mixed feelings".

"I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Real Madrid, which from a very young age became my dream and my most cherished goal. I have had the privilege of making this dream come true. I also want to thank the president, the board, the coaches and my team-mates," he said.

He continued: "We have celebrated together, fought every battle and achieved unforgettable victories. But I can't forget the incredible fans: you are the soul and the engine of this club. Your passion, encouragement and unconditional love drive us to live every match.

"However, the time has come when I have to make a difficult decision. I have decided to take a new step in my career with a project in which I can reach other goals. Thank you dear 'Madridistas' for all your unconditional support, we will meet again", he concluded.
