Arsenal reach verbal agreement with City for Gabriel Jesus

How are Manchester City managing to continue to sign the best players and keep their finances balanced? By playing with numbers. On the same day that it was reported that Kalvin Phillips is on the brink of joining the City ranks from Leeds United for 45 million pounds, Fabrizio Romano has reported that The Sky Blues have closed an agreement with Arsenal to sell Gabriel Jesus to them for the same figure.

Moreover, with the Phillips case, a young home-grown talent is included in the situation and so, those at the Etihad have been working smartly to fit the Brazilian's exit into the picture with perfection. All that remains is for The Gunners to specify his salary with him and other personal terms.

According to the British press, Arsenal are prepared to pay Jesus a salary three times that of what he has been receiving at City. This detail has been fundamental in completing the incorporation of a professional who has recently won the 2021/22 Premier League title.

Another aspect which helps to understand why City are prepared to sell Gabriel Jesus, is the time that remains on his contract. His current deal at City is due to expire in a year's time. Therefore, this summer is the penultimate chance for the board to earn money from his transfer. If they miss the boat and he sees out his contract, he will leave for free next summer.
