Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu has been loaned out to RB Leizpig in Germany next season.
The Welshman has made just 12 appearances in the two seasons he has been at the club since leaving League Two Exeter City. He played three Europa League games last term before being ruled out of action since February with a back problem.
Frank Lampard confirmed that the idea of the move is so that Ethan can get more game time under his belt. "I tried to sign Ethan on loan at Derby last year so I’m a big fan, but with the minutes he played last year, in the interest of Ethan and of Chelsea, the idea he can play a lot of games somewhere could be good for him.
At Leipzig, he will be able to enjoy Champions League football as the club finished third in the Bundesliga only behind Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
Ampadu is also a Welsh international and has eight caps to his name. His most recent two were in Euro 2020 qualifiers this summer. This and the fact he is only 18 mean it is vital he plays on a regular basis.
