Paul Pogba endured a dismal season a club level, but his time with France at the World Cup has been a far cry from that, with the Manchester United star generally impressing. Never one to shy away from a big occasion, Pogba duly got himself on the scoresheet in Sunday's final against Croatia at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

The fixture proved to be action-packed throughout and never less so than during the first half as Mario Mandzukic put through his own net to give France the lead, only for Ivan Perisic to respond shortly afterwards. An Antoine Greizmann penalty restored France's lead before half-time and the Atletico Madrid man was involved again as 'Les Bleus' put daylight between the two sides in the second half.

Just before the hour mark, Kylian Mbappe was sent racing away down the right. He ate up the ground to reach the ball and cross for Griezmann, who held the ball up with his back to goal and laid it off to Pogba on the edge of the box.

The midfielder tried his luck with a low right-footed strike. That effort was blocked, but the loose ball rebounded straight back to Pogba, who curled home left-footed this time beyond a rooted Danijel Subasic.
