Almeria sign Babic and keep him until 2026

Centre-back Srdjan Babic, born 26 years ago in Bosnia-Herzegovina, has renewed his contract with Almeria for four seasons until June 2026, the Andalusian club, whose team will play in La Liga Santander next season, announced on Sunday.
Babic arrived at Almeria this season on loan from Crvena Zvezda and had previously played for Serbian club Vojvodina and in Spanish competition for Real Sociedad B and Reus Deportivo.
The centre-back did not come in as a regular starter, but since appearing in the starting eleven in a match against Alcorcon at the Santo Domingo stadium, he has settled into the position and, with 3,174 minutes, he was the second player with the most minutes during a season in which he participated in 37 league games, starting 35 of those matches, in which he scored a goal.
The player has been characterised by his defensive strength, which is why the team's coach, Joan Francesc Ferrer, has had him among his chosen players.
Srdjan Babic's renewal is the third to be announced by Turki Al-Sheikh's club, following Saturday's announcements of Italian-Brazilian centre-back Rodrigo Ely and Valencian left-back Alex Centelles.
