Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed the news that the clubs fans all feared this week, as striker Sergio Aguero and midfielder Kevin De Bruyne have been ruled out of their away trip to Chelsea this weekend.
Aguero had been struggling with tightness in his adductor muscle in recent weeks, but after sitting out the champions' last two matches, the Argentine is still not fit enough to face Chelsea.
Meanwhile, midfielder master Kevin De Bruyne has been absent for the majority of the season thus far, after suffering from two serious knee injuries. And he has now also been ruled out of a return to his former club on Saturday.
Therefore City will have to go to title-challenging Chelsea without two of their key performers from the fixture last season.
City boss Pep Guardiola confirmed the news on Friday, stating: "Both cannot play. Both will be back soon. Always Stamford Bridge is difficult. I have travelled there many times as a manager and won once – last season. Most times I lose there.”
