The first half of what was beforehand the game of the matchday in the Premier League was not very significant. It seemed like the first half would end 0-0 and that half time would come quietly in the Chelsea-Liverpool showdown. Christensen livened up the afternoon.
The centre-back hugged Mané when the Senegalese had him beat. The referee, at first, blew for a foul and showed him a yellow.
But VAR warned that it might be a more serious foul. After a brief review, the yellow turned into a red which made the second half complicated for Frank Lampard's team.
The play could have resulted in a goal, although why Kepa came out of his area, nobody knows, and could have complicated the situation with Mané even more. But Christensen didn't read his goalkeeper well and his hug ended up being costly.
