Zidane ended his first spell at the club when he won his third consecutive Champions League trophy two years ago. However, he returned a few months later after Lopetegui and Solari were sacked. The difference between Madrid during Zidane's first spell and his second is huge.
Of the 200 games as Real Madrid manager, he has won 132 matches, drawn 42 and lost 26. Real Madrid have scored 489 goals and conceded just 209.
They are spectacular figures and it means the club have won almost two-thirds of their matches under Zidane. However, his second spell at the club is much worse than the first spell.
When he left the Real Madrid bench in summer 2018, Zidane had a 70% win record. Since his return in the middle of 2019, he has won just 54% of the games.
It is not wrong to say that there have been two Real Madrids under Zidane. With practically the same team (minus Cristiano Ronaldo), they have gone from winning almost three quarters to just over half of their fixtures.
That poor form is especially noticeable in La Liga, partly due to the poor end to last season when Zidane took over at a Real Madrid with nothing to play for.
Despite that, 'Los Blancos' are second in the league, just two points behind Barca. Despite being not half as good as the Real Madrid side which won three Champions Leagues in a row, they still have a good chance of winning La Liga this season.
