Dani Olmo and Ferran Torres scored in the first half after Kosovo had held their own for 30 minutes, but then Spain took control. Kosovo were gifted a goal 20 minutes from time after Simon came charging out of his goal and Halimi scored, but Gerard Moreno's header ended any hopes of a fightback.

    The Kosovo coach took exception to the paper not mentioning Kosovo's name and there was even talk of Kosovo boycotting the match initially if their anthem was not allowed to be played after Spain's Twitter account called Kosovo a territory. That was quickly shot down when they were promised their anthem would be played.

    There's been controversy ahead of this game as Spain does not officially recognise Kosovo as a country. Even though the majority of media outlets (and the Spanish FA) have referred to the team as Kosovo, one Spanish newspaper refused to mention the name and the Spanish TV channel showing the game have been told to refer them as Kosovo Football Federation.
