Hungary started the game looking like they were going to cause an upset in Lisbon. However, a clynical Portugal soon took control of the game and did not allow Hungary to have the ball.
First, young Porto striker Andre Silva scored his fifth goal for Portugal after a beautiful cross from Guerreiro. Only a few minutes later, the centre-forward brought the ball down for Ronaldo, whose left-footed shot was unstoppable for Gulacsi.
After the break, Hungary had a brief spell of pressure in which they could have got a goal back, but Portugal soon found their stride again.
Ronaldo, with a direct free kick from the right corner of the box, sealed the victory with twenty-five minutes to go. Hungary were powerless throughout the game and, after the third they just gave up, focusing on not conceding another goal.
With this win, Portugal stay second, but are now only three points behind Switzerland. Hungary, on the other hand, fall behind in third position, five points behind Portugal and seven behind the group leaders.
