Xavi Simons' contract clause would allow him to join Barca on loan

Xavi Simons is a Barcelona youth player, but left La Masia for PSG at a very young age. At the Parc des Princes, during a period when the club was investing in world-class stars, he was unable to find a place, so he signed for PSV before tying his future back to the French capital thanks to a buy-back option. The problem is that he failed to get success in Paris, which led to his loan move to Leipzig this season.

With this situation of constant rebound, Barcelona could take advantage of the situation to sign him on loan for next season. 'Mundo Deportivo' claims that there is a clause in the contract between the young midfielder and Nasser Al-Khelaifi's leadership whereby the player has the power to decide which destination he prefers when he goes out on loan. The newspaper adds that his favourite for the 2024/25 season is the 'Cule' side.

The Barca board would only have to assume his salary, so the operation would fit within the Catalan budgets. Everything is, of course, subject to a meeting between the Dutchman's agents and his owners, who, although they are aware that the playmaker is the one with the upper hand, have to receive his notification of where he wants to go in a few months... if he does leave in a few months' time.

That's another matter: this season, PSG have unleashed a change of model not because they have stopped spending big money in the transfer market, but because they have put it on younger players. Xavi Simons - 21 years old - fits perfectly into this planning, which is expected to bear fruit in the long term with names such as Vitinha, one of the best in the current Paris Saint-Germain squad.
