Xavi, first words after his farewell: "I had decided to leave since the beginning of the season"

This press conference was highlighted in Barcelona's current affairs as it was the first one after Xavi Hernandez stated his decision not to continue beyond the end of the season. The coach, who has been in the spotlight over the last few days, faces the match against Osasuna to recover the credibility of the 'cule' team in La Liga.

With a serious face, but with a natural attitude, Xavi Hernandez approached this important press conference. Some questions inevitably pointed to his final farewell speech after the defeat against Villarreal.

"After the announcement, I want unity, as a 'Barcelonista'. It is important in these difficult times, especially in terms of results. We need the whole of Barcelona. The season is not over, we have an opponent who is a rock defensively (Osasuna). It will be hard, but the message is one of unity to finish the season in the best possible way", stressed the coach in his first message.

Xavi surprises by saying that his decision to leave had been made, he says, since the beginning of the season: "It's a mental and footballing issue. The level of football goes down because of the mental level. That's why I'm announcing my resignation, as well as the fact that our work is not valued enough. I had already decided this at the beginning of the season.

"I knew we were a team, but I was surprised by the words, the calls. It has moved me. I'm a 'Cule' and I hope everything gets better and we're going to give it our all. In the end we depend on the players being inspired and taking a step forward," he added.
