West Ham currently possess a severe lack of firepower up front and are hoping to loan either Anthony Martial or Marcus Rashford until the end of the season.
The Hammers signed Juventus striker Simone Zaza on a season-long loan in the summer, but the Italy international has failed to score a single goal since making the move to East London.
Meanwhile, other striking options include former United youngster Ashley Fletcher, who is too raw and inexperienced to lead the time for the Hammers, and injury-plagued duo Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho, meaning that Slaven Bilic is desperate to bring in another front man.
A move for Martial or Rashford seems ambitious from West Ham, but ultimately may work best for both parties. Both players would benefit greatly from the regular first team football that they would get at the London Stadium, thus aiding their development and becoming better players for United in the future.
It remains to be seen whether both players would be open to a move away from Old Trafford, but it may not be as crazy as first thought given the possible playing opportunities offered to them.
