'We thought about signing Vidal, he's a machine'

"I retired from football 5 years ago but when we came up against each other he was a machine. He would never be beaten. We were thinking about signing him" the former midfielder said when asked about the new Barcelona player.

Vidal will not take part in the game between Milan and Barcelona on Saturday night, but Barcelona will be glad for him to join up with the team.

"He's got quality but he's also a warrior. He never gives up on a ball. If Barcelona have signed him then it's because of that, he's intelligent and hard-working. He'll be a great asset even in their style of play." Gattuso said of Vidal.

The Milan coach went on to reveal why the club did not sign the 31 year-old Chilean international.

"We weren't able to do it because of Financial Fair Play" Gattuso acknowledged. UEFA have already punished the club for losing control of their finances, although the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled overturned the decision.
