Vitor Roque was given a hero's farewell at the Airena da Baixada. The young Brazilian striker was honoured in his last home game for Athletico Paranaense, days before flying to Barcelona to become a new 'Cule'.
'Tigrinho' started what is undoubtedly the most special match of his short career. He didn't score, but he left with the feeling of having given his all on the pitch.
Wesley Carvalho, with the score at 2-0, decided to withdraw Vitor Roque to receive a standing ovation from the stands. The striker, as he left the pitch, cried and said goodbye to his fans.
"Since I arrived I have been very well received. I am happy and it is a dream for me to go to Europe. Now I have to keep working. I'm sure it was a successful job helping the 'Furacao' to achieve the maximum," he told the media immediately after the match.
"I am happy for the work and the affection of the fans, they have always supported me. I will try to work in the best way with humility to arrive in the best shape. I hope to be ready for Barcelona. I worked hard and I'm very happy for everything that is happening in my life," he said.
