Real Madrid went into the huge Champions League quarter-finals with several players out, just like Liverpool. They were without Ramos, Varane and Hazard and Vinicius' pace was their main threat going forward.
The Brazilian was sharp throughout the whole game and he scored in the first half. Asensio added a second, but Liverpool were a different side in the second period. Mo Salah pulled one back for the visitors after a lovely run by Wijnaldum and a scuffed shot by Jota. However, Madrid fought back.
Liverpool were sleeping in defence from a Madrid throw. Benzema got the ball and passed to Modric near the box, the Croatian put a good ball into the area and Vinicius shot at goal with his right foot.
His effort should have been saved by Alisson, but the ball still found its way into the back of the net. Madrid were 3-1 up and their two goal lead was restored.
Vinicius shone in an important match and got himself a brace and was sharp all game. It was exactly what Madrid needed.
