This Friday, Portugal will play Luxembourg at home and all eyes will be on Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese star is only 2 goals away from reaching 700 as a professional footballer.

The Juventus striker's commitment to goal is beyond doubt. Throughout his career, Cristiano Ronaldo has shown that he only has one rival on target -Leo Messi- and that his records will be out of reach for any footballer for a long time to come.

At 34-years-old, the former Madrid player is only two goals away from scoring 700 goals in his career.  At his pace, he'll be able to do it soon - he could even do it on this FIFA day - getting a very significant record for himself.

Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo got his number 7 at Manchester United, he only stopped wearing it for one season, in 2009/10, which was his first year at Real Madrid. In fact, he is commonly known as CR7... and he will soon reach 700 goals.

To get to the 698 goals he has at the moment, the Portuguese has spent time at four clubs. He started at Sporting de Portugal, where he scored 5 goals in 31 games. He then went to Manchester United (118 goals in 292 games). He broke his record in Madrid with 450 goals in 438 matches and in Italy he has already scored 32 goals in 51 matches.

The rest of the goals, a total of 93, were scored in the Portuguese national team shirt, where he is the highest scorer in history.
