Vela coolly converted a spot-kick to edge Mexico in front

There were 13 penalties in the entirety of the 2014 World Cup and this summer's tournament in Russia had already drawn level with that figure in just 27 encounters.
However, it wasn't long before supporters saw the 14th penalty after Mexico were awarded a spot-kick for a handball from Jang Hyun Soo in the box.
It was a clear decision for the official, with a delivery smacking the defender's outstretched arm. Although, some could argue he didn't have time to move it away given his proximity to the ball.
Nonetheless, it was given and Carlos Vela stepped up to take the penalty, coolly sending Jo Hyeon Woo the wrong way before slotting the ball to the right.
