The first goal of 'El Clásico' was from Fede Valverde. The Real Madrid midfielder took five minutes to put his side in front thanks to a mismatch in Barcelona's defence, which didn't see him coming when he snuck into the area to be one on one with Neto.
The pass was from Benzema, as always, indetectable by his opponents. He acted again away from the area, as a number 10, to put the backline of Barca in trouble. There was some passivity of the players, although the Frenchman got out.
The shot from Valverde also had a lot of merit. Amidst the light exit of the keeper, he hit a crossed and powerful shot, hard, to beat him. He didn't have time to react and avoid them being punished for their bad start to the match.
Fortunately for Barcelona, Ansu Fati appeared not long after to level. Jordi Alba played him a low pass from the edge of the box and he hit the ball well to prevent Courtois, who tried to cover everything he could, from stopping him.
