Barcelona have been studying the best ways of making a competitive side for next season for weeks. There are players who will not stay, like Adama Traore, and others who will leave because of a decision taken by the board, as is the case with Frenkie de Jong.
President Joan Laporta has decided to get rid of the Dutch midfielder as long as he receives the approval of Xavi Hernandez, to try and get about 70 million euros. They could then use that money to make other moves.
If this happens, Carlos Soler would become a Barca footballer. According to 'AS', Barcelona and Valencia have agreed on a 20 million euro fee.
In addition, an agreement has been reached with the footballer himself, whose contract expires in 2023. Everything seems to suggest that he will not renew and Valencia will be happy to receive those 20 million euros.
But for Carlos Soler to leave, Barcelona must first sell players so that they can get money to spend on new players and reduce their wage bill.
Carlos Soler wants to help strengthen the Barca midfield and he will have to wait and see whether Barcelona are capable of finding a place for him. At the moment, the footballer has made 34 appearances, scored 12 goals (that equals his record tally) and given five assists. Barca are a huge fan of his stats this season.
Valencia deny rumours
Valencia, however, deny an agreement has been reached with the Catalans.
"In response to a story published this Monday in Spanish newspaper 'Diario AS', Valencia CF deny the existence of any agreement - or any ongoing negotiation - with FC Barcelona for the transfer of Carlos Soler," the club said.
In addition, Valencia reported that "they are in an open negotiation process with the player and his agents to extend his contract at the club."
