Juventus were knocked out of the Champions League in the quarter-finals by a stoppage-time penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo on Wednesday evening.
Andrea Agnelli, president of the Italian club, was furious with the decision to give a penalty and accused UEFA of referee bias. He also called on the organisation to implement Video Assistant Referees [VAR].
FIFA recently revealed that they will use VAR in the World Cup in Russia this summer. UEFA are to continue with extensive trials, but the technology has not been adopted into their competitions.
On Thursday, UEFA told 'Sky Sports News': ''Fans see the VAR screen all the time but nobody knows how it works. We will not use it in the Champions League next season. For me, it might be a good project but we shouldn't rush it.''
According to the International Football Association Board [IFAB], VAR technology has been accurate in 98.9 per cent of decisions over the two-year global trial.
