UEFA is tweaking its regulations to offer greater flexibility to clubs, specifically those dealing with long-term injuries during the season. The governing body will now permit the registration of an additional player in such instances.
'AS' reports that the UEFA Executive Committee, meeting in Tirana, approved a rule allowing clubs to register one extra player after the deadline, provided it is due to a long-term injury.
This measure aims to prevent teams being disadvantaged compared to their rivals, taking into account existing player registration rules.
"The Executive Committee approved an amendment to the regulations for UEFA men's club competitions 2025-26 to allow the temporary replacement of a maximum of one outfield player with a long-term injury or illness during the league phase, up to and including matchday six," UEFA stated.
