Leo Messi's future is starting to become clear. The Argentinian star has reportedly told Barcelona the conditions he is setting for him to extend his new Barca contract, 'TVE reports'.
There has been plenty of talk on what those conditions could be, but it seems like everything seems to be on building a competitive team. Leo Messi wants to win the Champions League again.
'TV3' revealed that there had been a meeting between Messi's father, the player's agent, and Barca president Joan Laporta. Jorge Messi was apparently understanding of the club's difficult financial situation.
Many clubs want to sign Messi from Barcelona, but few sides can actually afford him. In the end, just like last summer, there are three options: stay at Barca, go to Man City or go to PSG. Argentina and the MLS are out of the picture.
This year, it looks like the Parisians will put in a large bid for Messi, but Laporta could ruin Al-Khelaifi's plan.
That said, the fact Messi and Laporta are friends will not be enougn to persuade the Argentine to stay at the Catalans. Barcelona must make signings and form a competitive team. One name is on the table and it is not Neymar: Erling Haaland.
Given his transfer demands have been accepted, Messi needs to be paid well. As 'TV3' reported, Messi has accepted to take a 50% pay cut for the first year.
It seems like Leo Messi will pen a new deal. There is still no deal, but it looks like Messi and Barca are willing to strike a deal and that is very important.
