Torres: Last game at the Calderón was better than the World Cup

Fernando Torres will forever be a figure closely associated with Atlético Madrid, and he certainly will never forget his time at the club. "If you tell me that I can only choose one stage in your career, I choose that second stage at home (at Atlético)," he said in an interview with 'AS'.

In fact, it was so important to Torres that he puts it on a par with the World Cup he won with Spain in South Africa in 2010: "The World Cup feels the same to me as the last game at the Metropolitan...", he looked back.

But, for Torres, there's one memory that tops both of these experiences: the last game he played at Atlético's old Vicente Calderón stadium:  "That game or that afternoon at the Neptune fountain (the place where Atlético fans celebrate their triumphs) with the Europa League feels even better for me than the World Cup," he said.

'El Niño' has no doubt that he will return to Atlético Madrid again one day. "It's my family, it's my life. Undoubtedly we will meet again," he promised.
