According to 'Sport Bild', Werner, 24, is a step away from joining Chelsea, who are willing to fork out 60 million euros on the striker. That is the German's buyout clause.
It seemed like Werner's most probable destination was Liverpool, but the Blues have apparently persuaded him by offering the player 10 million euros a year.
According to the cited media outlet, Chelsea have now got his contract ready and the signing will become a reality in the coming days. He will undoubtedly be key to Lampard's side.
The London outfit will have to seal the deal by 15th June otherwise he will have to play for RB Leipzig for another season. The Bundesliga club are not willing to negotiate the price.
So Werner will pen a deal until June 2025 with the West Londoners and Jurgen Klopp and the Reds look set to miss out on their main target.
The forward's agent has yet to confirm the agreement so we will have to wait for both clubs to make it official.
Werner has had a great season as he has scored 31 goals and got 11 assists in 40 appearances. He is second in the Bundesliga goalscoring charts on 25, four behind Lewandowkski.
