This is what happens if you stop completely while taking a penalty

Madrid referee Cuadra Fernández disallowed a goal scored from a penalty by Real Sociedad's Swedish striker Alexander Isak, who was also shown a yellow card for stopping in his run up while taking a penalty.

The action, which occurred in the 17th minute of the first half, caught the Real Sociedad players already celebrating the equaliser, by surprise. Elche goalkeeper Edgar Badía was the first from the ground to claim the infringement.

After a few seconds of surprise from the players of both teams, the referee explained to the players on the penalty spot that the kicker cannot come to a complete stop before striking the ball once he has started the run.
