The Slovenian wall to stop Three Lions

Harry Kane will bear the captain's armband, leading an attacking quartet made up of Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Together they will look for the goal to take them through to their sixth consecutive World Cup finals.

At one end, Joe Hart will be between the sticks, the Hammers keeper who has put on some questionable performances for the Three Lions over the years. At the other, England will have to face highly regarded Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak. For two years running, the 24-year-old has picked up the coveted Zamora trophy for La Liga's top keeper and has been highly praised by fellow teammate Antoine Griezmann, who labelled him 'the best goalkeeper in the world'.

England were held to a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture in Slovenia back in October 2016. Largely due to Oblak's exploits, his side travel to Wembley with a play-off spot within their grasp. Southgate referred to Slovenia as a 'dangerous opponent', lining up an out-and-out attacking team to beat the in-form Atletico keeper.

'Up to this point, they haven't conceded many goals at all so it's a great challenge for us to change that stat', the England boss said ahead of the clash. To do so, they will have to beat the man that has made the Vicente Calderon (and now the new Metropolitano stadium) forget about the likes of David De Gea and Thibaut Courtois.

Closely monitored by Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, who will be watching from the stands as the keeper attempts to spoil the party at Wembley, Oblak has been hailed as natural leader despite his young age. Another display of his abilities to postpone England's celebrations will not go unnoticed in Europe, and will surprise no one in Spain.
