The BrazilIan David Luíz is clear what the roadmap for his future is. In it, there is nothing about finishing in Brazil, but yes in Portugal. The CB dreams of returning and told how his exit from the club was in an interview with 'Sport TV'.
"I was afraid to leave Benfica and I was afraid to live a new story. Rui Costa took me to his office and talked to me. I was afraid of erasing everything I had done in the club, the love, the pleasure I had in living in this country...", he recalled.
The CB said that it was one phrase that made him change his mind to make the jump to the Premier League. At Chelsea, he was indispensable for 4 seasons before he went to PSG.
"The doors will always be open to you. You need to show your football to the whole world", was what Rui Costa told him.
With regards to his return, David Luiz knows that he will return to play for Benfica at another time, which could be sooner rather than later because his Arsenal contract expires in 2021.
"I never lost my connection with Benfica. Everyone knows I want to go back and I have it in my head. The day I go back to the stadium will be one of the best moments of my life", he concluded.
