This Christmas we could have one of the most special reunions in European football: Hulk and Porto. According to 'Record' and 'O Jogo', the Brazilian is on his way to signing with the Portuguese club.
The Hulk wants to be a dragon at all costs. It is there that he lived the best years of his career on a sporting level before joining Zenit. Afterwards, the offer from Chinese football was too good to say "no" and he embarked on an adventure that officially ended on Wednesday.
Both the player and Shanghai SIPG announced that they were parting ways after four and a half years in which, apart from his 77 goals in the Chinese team's shirt, the Hulk pocketed around 100 million euros.
Now, Portuguese sports newspapers report that the Hulk is willing to charge an eighth of what he earned at Shanghai SIPG if he returns to Porto at the age of 34. Between 2008 and 2012, he played in 169 matches in which he scored 78 goals and gave 52 assists.
Apparently, the Brazilian's salary in Porto would be around 2.5 million euros per season. A significant amount, but not unattainable for a club whose salary limit does not allow for expenditures such as those in the Chinese Super League.
Hulk recognised in the middle of the year that he had received offers from Turkey, Portugal, England, Spain and Germany, and there was also talk of a possible transfer to Vasco da Gama or Palmeiras.
