The four options Tuchel is weighing up to strengthen Chelsea's defence

Thomas Tuchel remains determined to improve his central defence for next season. Amid Christensen's good performances recently, he looks set to renew with the Blues in the coming days. In addition, the German manager has got his eyes on four other centre-backs.
According to 'The Athletic', he has put forward the name of 26-year-old Atletico defender José María Giménez. In addition to him, "The Telegraph" has highlighted three other players who could be candidates for a move to Stamford Bridge: Niklas Süle (25, Bayern Munich), Ibrahima Konaté (21, RB Leipzig), and David Alaba (28, Bayern Munich), although the latter seems complicated due to a number of other offers for him.
But for one of these to be bought, Chelsea will have to get rid of a defender: at the moment they have Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Thiago Silva, Christensen and Kurt Zouma, as well as the currently loaned out Fikayo Tomori, Ethan Ampadu, Malang Sarr and Marc Guehi.
Chelsea are currently very good defensively. Since Tuchel has come in for Lampard, the West London club have conceded two goals in nine games, giving them the second best defensive record in the Premier Keague, only behind Manchester City. The idea is to continue this trend into next season.
