The best free agents still on the market

The transfer market continues to evolve, but many players are yet to find a club in this window. Several boast considerable pedigree in European football, and remain available with several weeks still to go before the registration deadline in the major leagues. Here are some of them.
Sergio Reguilon (28)
The Spanish full-back has gone through a difficult period in his career. The Real Madrid youth product had a very quick and successful rise to the elite, but eventually left for Sevilla in search of playing time. He then signed for Tottenham Hotspur. He has spent several loan spells at Atlético, Manchester United and Brentford, but has hardly been a key player at any of these clubs. With his contract with Spurs coming to an end, he is now a free agent and looking for his next destination.
Takehiro Tomiyasu (26)
Plagued by injuries in his final days at Arsenal, Tomiyasu reached an agreement to terminate his contract. He is a very reliable defender, capable of playing on both flanks and also in the centre of defence. At 26, he is a very good option if he can put his injury problems behind him.
Lorenzo Insigne (34 years old)
His stay in MLS with Toronto ultimately lasted four seasons. After his contract ended, he became a free agent once again. Over the past few weeks, his name has been linked with a possible return to Italy, which he left in 2022 when he departed Napoli.
Christian Eriksen (33)
Although his spell at Manchester United has been somewhat intermittent, Eriksen is a safe bet with a seal of quality. The 33-year-old Dane has not yet chosen a destination, despite reports in England linking him with Wrexham, newly promoted to the Championship.
Hakim Ziyech (32)
The best version of Ziyech from Ajax is now a distant memory. The Moroccan winger left Chelsea for Galatasaray in 2023, but his form has dipped in Turkey after a decent first season. He is now one of the big names on the free agent market.
Josh Brownhill (29)
After six seasons at Burnley, Brownhill announced that he would be leaving the club. A midfielder who, in the last campaign, with the team in the Championship, was able to score 18 goals and provide six assists in 44 games. At the moment, he remains without a team.
Alexander Oxlade-Chamberlain (32 years old)
A footballer with extensive experience in English football, having played for Southampton, Arsenal and Liverpool, where he became an important player under Jürgen Klopp. After his latest adventure with Turkish side Besiktas, he has yet to find a new club despite interest from Birmingham City.
Bamidele Dele Alli (29)
Also in a complicated situation similar to that of Oxlade-Chamberlain, Dele Alli's performance has declined compared to his best years at Tottenham. In his last two adventures at Besiktas and Como, he barely played.
Miralem Pjanic (35 years old)
He did not work out at Barcelona, but he had been a great player in Italy prior to his spell in the Catalan capital. After that, he played for Besiktas and had a surprising spell in the United Arab Emirates with Sharjah FC. His last chapter was with CSKA Moscow before becoming a free agent.
