The 2019-2020 Champions League prize pot revealed

For example, the four Spanish teams (Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and Valencia) will receive no less than 180 million euros between them- just for taking part. And from then on, it only increases. A few days ago, UEFA published how they will share out the prize money amongst the 32 clubs participating in the group stage, as the prize pot has increased for the 19-20 edition.
UEFA will share out 2.4 billion euros amongst the 32 teams in the group stage. If the sums seems abnormally high, it is worth noting that it has risen 700 million euros from last year's competition.
Each team will get 15.25 million euros for playing in the group stages. Then, depending on their performance, this will only get bigger. Each win will net them 2.7 million euros, whereas a draw will get them 900,000 euros. And the profits don't end there, they exponentially increase after each round.
Getting through to the round of 16 will get each team another 9.5 million euros, 10.5 million will be the prize for getting through to the quarter final, and a further 12 million for reaching the semi-final. The runners up will get 15 million, and the winners could earn as much as 20 million thanks to a bonus of 4 million.
However, UEFA also has a "market pool", which is split depending on televison income and past participation in the tournament. It is a system that changes in every country. This season it will be worth almost 300 million euros.
Additionally, teams will get more based on their previous appearances in the competition. Their performance in the last ten editions of the torunament, as well as their number of victories (also in the Europa League) will be recognised.
The current holders, Liverpool, earned 70 million euros last year based on their sporting performance alone. On top of this, you have to add the other concepts such as the "market pool" and their history. The Champions League is a gold mine.
