Ter Stegen saved Barca after Pique gave away penalty

Valencia did not take advantage of a glorious opportunity to go ahead. Just 10 minutes had gone when Gaya went into the box via the left hand side.
Pique slid in to try and win the ball off the Valencia defender, but Gaya touched the ball away from him and was brought down. Gil Manzano pointed to the penalty spot and booked the Barca central defender.
Maxi Gomez had the chance to put Valencia in front from 12 yards but the Uruguayan striker saw his shot saved by Ter Stegen who dived to his left to stop it going in.
That was Ter Stegen's first penalty save in La Liga. He had stopped one against Sevilla in the Spanish Super Cup and four spot kicks in the Champions League. The last of those was this season at Borussia Dortmund.
Minutes later, Ter Stegen once again saved Pique. The Barca defender almost turned a Ferran Torres cross into his own net, but the German appeared again to save on the goalline.
