This Monday, the Spanish national team should have been training with coach Luis Enrique, but the scene was very different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The captain Sergio Ramos sent a video message raising awareness to try and help 'La Roja' return to action as soon as possible.
"Today is a day we would have been training. A day all us Spanish players are excited about. But we aren't going to see the boss, or his coaching staff or even our teammates. The dressing room is empty. The gym is empty. We won't be going out for training. At the Ciudad del Futbol, like in so many places, there is no one so that we can all be together in the future," the Andalusian footballer added.
The pandemic has made the Spanish FA (RFEF) headquarters in Las Rozas (Madrid) empty. The Spanish national team were due to be training there this Monday.
The calling up of international players has been cancelled and the friendly matches against Germany and Holland will not take place either.
"But football will come back and so will our country's international games. It is the unequivocal message captain Ramos is sending. Let's keep happy," the Spanish FA wrote.
